* If you’re feeling a little more adventurous why not try
making royal icing. This can also be bought.
* Small novelties that tie in with a theme, interest, hobby or
favorite character will help to personalize a birthday cake.
* Coconut will give a ‘grassy’ effect when used with
green tinted butter icing or frosting.
* Glacé cherries, or fresh cherries half dipped in melted
white or dark chocolate look lovely.
* Nuts, walnuts or almonds can also be used for cake decorating
. To form pretty flowers, use the almonds for the petals, and place
a halved glacé cherry in the middle for the flower center.
Jordan almonds can also be used.
* Almond paste or marzipan molded or cut into shapes, can be tinted
with food coloring.
